Ninth Street, My Street

Ninth Street, My Street is the inaugural installation of OTOWN (Over the Town), a descendant-led augmented reality poetry archive developed by Christell Victoria Roach. Located in Overtown, Miami, the exhibit maps archival photographs, family histories, poetry, and oral storytelling onto the historic landscape of Northwest Ninth Street. Through GPS-anchored augmented reality, visitors encounter fragments of community memory embedded directly into the neighborhood where these stories unfolded. This installation draws from family archives, historical records, and community memory to preserve the cultural history of Overtown — once known as the Harlem of the South.
